My favorite show from the 90s, American Gladiators, is returning this year on NBC. The show was a weekly, near-death experience for all of the gladiators and contestants since the producers implemented zero safey precautions (or even basic engineering rules). Every obstacle was 50 feet taller than it should be; ropes connected people to falling objects; and each set piece was steep, flimsy and covered in smoke.
